Richard C. Owens, President

Richard Owens is founder and President of Technical Machine, Inc. Rick has over 45 years of experience in the machine shop industry, beginning when he was too small to reach the dials on the machines. While working with his father, he would have to stand on a wooden apple crate while learning to run an engine lathe and a hand screw machine. After high school, Rick built on his experience in a larger shop. He became the lead man in the turning department, running engine lathes, hand screw machines, chuckers and multi-spindle screw machines.

In 1979, Rick decided to use his experience to found his own business, Technical Machine, Inc. While still working full time for a shop in Minneapolis, he bought one machine and began working out of his garage. In 1980, Rick decided to devote all of his time and energies to Technical Machine, Inc. He moved out of his garage and rented a small space in St. Anthony, Minnesota. By expanding his customer base and providing high quality products with superior customer service, Rick was able to purchase more machines and more personnel to help with the demands of the business.

In 1989, Technical Machine, Inc. expanded again by building a 6,000 square foot building in Blaine, Minnesota. In 1996, they were able to add another 6,000 square feet. Rick has learned that it takes hard work, dedication and a good working relationship with your customers to be successful. Rick still loves what he does, and maintains that excellent customer service is the key to the on-going growth and success of Technical Machine, Inc.

With over 80 years of combined experience, the brothers continue to offer the highest quality products and superior customer service.
